About the Blog
This blog is just a collection of stuff, a collection that I have not been very good about updating.
About the Author
I was born in NJ in 1986 but was largely raised in Charleston, SC. I went to college in Rhode Island and am currently an Astrophysics Ph.D. student in Colorado. Most of the time, I am way too serious about everything.
About the Blog Title
‘Wayfaring Stranger’ is an American folksong that I first encountered through the Sacred Harp, a book of songs written in a peculiarly American solfege system. According to Wikipedia, as of 6/4/2009, ‘ “The Wayfaring Stranger,” also known as “Poor Wayfaring Stranger,” is a well-known spiritual/folk song about a plaintive soul on the journey through life.’ This song has always resonated with me.
For the curious reader, I have included the lyrics and a youtube version of the song here.
About the Titlebar Picture
The titlebar picture was chosen mostly because it is pretty. I took the picture of the sunset as seen from the Charleston peninsula, looking over the Ashley River. That particular place has been my ’sunset place’ since January of 2004, where I have gone occasionally ever since with that man silhouetted on top of a column in the picture.
